Applying wall moulding to your space is a great way to incorporate line and shape into your room, and brings with it a classy and sophisticated feel. We recently adding panels to a small room in a house we are working on and here’s how we did it:
What you will need:
–MDF chair-rail moulding (1-2″ wide)
– mitre saw (45 degrees)
– measuring tape
– wood filler
– paintable caulking and gun
– stud/metal finder
Planning out your design. You need to know exactly where each panel will go and ensure that each box is visually appealing. We first measured the wall to see the width of it and divided it by the number of panels, giving space in between each panel approximately 6″ and 2′ off the ground and 1′ down from the ceiling. You need to know how many pieces you need to cut and of what size before you begin.
Measure how long each piece of chair rail needs to be with a pencil then using a 45 degree angle to cut your chair-rail (using a mitre saw helps). Cutting in opposite directions on every other piece to form a 90 degree angle.
Apply caulking on the back of each piece and carefully stick it to the wall to form your perfect rectangle panel. For extra support (we found that some of the pieces of wood were a bit curved therefore making it harder to stick to the wall) use a stud/metal finder to see where to hammer in a nail or two for extra support.
Fill the holes and uneven edges with wood filler and smooth with a damp finger.
Wait at least 24 hours to dry, sand over any bumpy edges and paint over!
Enjoy your new sophisticated space.
Whatever you call this colour- moss, olive, army, it is one of the biggest crazes of fall. Olive green is a trend that will never go out of style as it is a great hue to serve as a neutral base. I pairs well with everyone’s personal style and wardrobe and looks great on all skin tones.
Keep your eye out next week, as you’ll be seeing plenty of this colour on the streets at Toronto Fashion Week.

Pendant lights have been a staple in household design for centuries and is still the number one statement piece used in modern décor today. We use pendants to not only add additional lighting to our spaces, but also to create a decorative focal point to any room.
In a recent project we designed for a bright condo located in Yorkville, we used an industrial pendant to balance masculine and modern features in the space.
We chose this pendant because of its industrial style and the matte black colour complimented the wainscoting on the room’s feature wall.
Additional elements of organic wood texture, a monochromatic colour scheme, metal hardware and the feature wall all tie space together.
We used a glass pendant in another room to both contrast and compliment the organic raw wood texture used in this custom barn board headboard we designed and had made, order here.
Another example of combining contrasting elements with the use of pendants was in the kitchen of a Trump Hotel residence we designed. We used an industrial washed pendant to contrast with the sleek and modern kitchen.
In this living room we used this one of a kind spider pendant as a statement piece. The modern silver bulbs balance with the industrial art in the background.
One of our favourite ways to accent our pendants is by combining a modern fixture with a ceiling medallion. Ceiling medallions have been around since the 1800’s and paired with the right fixture, it becomes an unforgettable statement piece.
We love this feathered ceiling medallion that is on sale at Jacflash.
Below is an inspiration board pairing medallions and pendants, which liven up any cookie cutter room.
Until next trending Tuesday!

Today I’m giving you all a sneak peek of NBA Toronto Raptor, Patrick Patterson’s condo in the Trump International Hotel and Residences, designed by Spaces by Jacflash.
Designing Patrick’s condo was one of the most exciting projects the Spaces by Jacflash team has done thus far and we could not be more proud of the end result!
We worked on this project for months- but the seemingly endless hours of manual and creative labour put into our spaces are more than worthwhile once our projects are complete and our vision comes to life.
Spaces by Jacflash works in collaboration with our clients to develop an exclusive and extraordinary look for each and every space. One of our favourite design ideas on Patrick’s project was the giant dinosaur skull we put atop his patina mirror coffee table- the perfect centerpiece for the Toronto Raptor.
Here are a few photos for you guys to see before the full album is uploaded on our website!
A shout out to some of our suppliers
There is plenty more to see of Patrick’s condo so stay tuned and check back soon!!
xo Happy Friday!

Mid century modern seems to be the hottest interior design trend around right now and adding the popular pineapple welcoming motif helps your home to feel even more bright and inviting. Pineapples have always been a symbol of hospitality and luxury. Hundreds of years ago pineapples were the dessert of the wealthy and the perfect gift to your guests inspired by its historical rarity. Having pineapple decor in your house today will present a quirky colourful impression that will resemble you as the happiest of hostesses.
Check out our favourite pineapple decor inspiration photos to spark you to create your own luxurious and cheerful pineapple statement in every room in your home.
This rosy and ritzy accessory is also prevalent at Toronto’s newest hot spot, The Addison’s Residence on Wellington. The vibe and decor is more than brilliant as it is set up like a Beverly Hills mansion, cool and content with a vintage chic vibe. Whether you’re with 2 or 200 people, The Addison’s will make you feel right at home, at the most lavish of house parties.
The second hidden gem we discovered this week is the most charming tropical tiki restaurant and bar called Miss Thing’s. The food is as colourful as the decor, giving you a vibe from the tropics of Hawaii. But of course, our favourite item on the menu is the pineapple fried rice.
If you are looking to dazzle up your home, we have great pineapple decor available for sale on the Jacflash website. Here’s a peek at the new arrivals to the home accessories store. ..
